Session Title: "Panel: Blockchain Technology Application in Agriculture: Opportunities and Challenges"

Session description: Blockchain technology (BCT), originally developed for mining of cryptocurrency, has a potential to solve the problem of data reliability, transparency, and traceability, thus guaranteeing the trustworthiness of information. Because of these characteristics, BCT has been applied in various different areas. Its benefit for the food and beverage supply chain is especially noteworthy. In this panel presentations we will be giving the overview to the attendees about BCT, its characteristics and impact on the different areas; We will describe the impact of BCT on the agri-food supply chain and we will highlight the potential of BCT in this field through case study and simulation. Finally, we will share the results of our ongoing project regarding BC application in wine industry on the example of three Italian wineries.

Bio: He was senior project manager for the number of international groups: L'Oréal International, Wella, Ski Data Switzerland, Swatch Group, International Olympic Committee. He has been the head of the Swatch Event and presentator with Juan Antonio Samaranch at place de la navigation in Lausanne, Switzerland, before the opening event of the Olympic Games in Atlanta, USA. Milivoje Batista is a former council of the World Trade Organization, Credit Suisse, UBS, African Liga, Arab Liga and Private Family Office of Prince Khalid and Amina Muhamad in Geneva. He is a Europe Director for International Affairs - IETI (European Commission's private organization for development of infrastructure that is funding the teaching activities and the development of the products for the European Union). He is a Project manager and energy project developer in Europe and Asia for the companies such as Enel, Itagas, Gazprom, Bayerngas, Zeebrugge Terminals, RWE, CNOOC. Since 2013 he carries out the projects for the development of Blockchain Technology in Switzerland, Brazil and Germany; Moreover, he is a member of Oxford Blockchain Alumni Network, Oxford Fintech Network, Harvard X Cybersecurity Alumni, Crypto Valley Zug and Swiss Blockchain Association.
